Our full-service facility has all of the functions necessary to support the most complicated projects with many years of varied experience amongst its 100+ employees. Backed by the support of our parent organization, SNK, Somec has received & installed numerous new machining centers providing Somec's customers with the latest in advanced manufacturing technology. Additional installations are planned for early 2001which will further differentiate Somec from most other companies in the Southeast.SNK is a leading Japanese machine tool manufacturer assisting many large U.S. corporations (GM, Boeing, etc.) with sophisticated machining solutions. SNK's engineering & technical expertise provides Somec with a unique insight to solving the most difficult manufacturing opportunities.Our tremendous manufacturing capacity encompassing both small and very large work pieces, is complemented by high-speed five-face milling machines, multi-axis machining centers, CNC lathes, CNC grinders, boring mills, jig bores, wire & probe EDM, certified welding, and assembly capabilities. A complete facility equipment list is available upon request.Engineering consists of (3) full time Design Engineers along with (2) full time Design/Drafters. Our engineering team posses experience in AutoCad, up to the current release 2000, with additional experience in SolidWorks, and Pro Engineer 2000i. The collective department experience in using these programs is estimated at 2,500 hours of Pro Engineer, over 5,000 hours of AutoCad and 5,000 hours of SolidWorks.We have (6) Pro E and (2) ProMan seats. Our current version is 2000i and 2000i squared. We have an Advanced Machining version giving us full manufacturing capability. In addition, we are able to read Pro Engineer, AutoCad and any lower level file format (ie. .DXF, IGES, etc.)Our Quality Control department is equipped with a Brown & Sharp Excel 765 Coordinate Measuring Machine with the latest revision of MM4 software, Johansson Cordiamet 801 CMM with the latest revision Level 1 software, and Optical Gaging Products model OQ-30B Comparator fully programmable with auto edge finding and hard copy printout 10x, 20x, 31.25x, & 100x. Currently, under the direction of our newly appointed Quality Assurance Manager, we are committed to achieve ISO 9001certification in 2001.
