Daulat Ram's DBR is the first indigenously developed DBR. It was approved by Indian Railways Premier approving authority, Research Development and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and Chittaranjan Locomotives Works (CLW) after strenuous tests and service trials. Dynamic braking (rheostatic braking) is a technology that enables the speed of a train to be controlled by cnverting the kinetic energy of train to electrical energy. The traction motors which normally convert the electrical power to motion, act as generators in this case. The electrical energy generated is fed to resistor bank which is forced cool by air circulation. This device is called Dynamic Braking Resistors(DBR). \r\n
