Since 1989, Eastern Alloy, Inc., "Specialists in Metal Fabrication," have been producing custom designed turbomachinery canisters for long term storage and shipping of turbine and compressor rotors. Each canister is designed to accept the size and weight of the individual rotors and can be stored vertically or horizontally. Lube system baseplates and related oil tanks are also produced at their facility that occupies more than 12,000 sq ft of fabrication space. All company welders are certified to ASME Section IX and to AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Code.\r\n\r\nEastern Alloys custom designed steel canisters are a safeguard against impact damage, distortion and corrosion. Their rugged construction protects and supports rotors and other turbomachinery parts in shipment and during storage. Cutaway view of a canister (above) shows a rotor in the horizontal position. Without proper protection expensive turbomachinery parts can be damaged in shipping or handling.
